Increased Coin Show Popularity

CoinShowLately, I’ve been writing about coin shows and stressing how educational and fun they are for attendees young and old.

Well, a lot of people must have listened because as of late, the shows I’ve attended and recieved feedback from have had fantastic pubic attendance (well, maybe there are factors other than my writings that are responsible for increased show attendance).

Recently, Christopher’s Rare Coins had dealer booths at the NW Show in Minneapolis, the Cedar Rapids Coin Club Annual Show and the Quad Cities Coin Show in Milan, Illinois. The attendance at these shows was markedly better than the past few years. I’m honestly not sure why, but myself and other dealers are not complaining. There is no way to gage if sales are congruent with attendance, but you know the old saying, you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink.

At the end of the day, it’s very satisfying seeing so many collectors at shows with want lists looking for those elusive treasures for their collections – no matter how much they are spending.

April 27 through the 29th is the Central States Numismatic Society Convention in Schaumberg, Illinois.

This is one of the premier annual national shows in the country. Besides dealers from all over the nation, there are dozens of numismatic exhibits, free seminars and much more. I strongly urge everyone to make a concerted effort to attend this show. You can find more details here.

Christopher’s Rare Coins will have 4 tables at this show with lots of new numismatic material, currency and jewelry!  Come see us and say hello.

Kindest regards,

Chris Seuntjens,
