Selling Coins
For many people, selling a personal coin collection or estate can raise many questions. “Are there coins in my collection that have a lot of value? Will an appraiser be able to tell me about them? Am I getting the best price if I choose to sell?”
At Christopher’s, you can sell your coins, gold, silver and platinum with ease and peace of mind. Our experienced appraisers will inspect all of your coins and offer you top market prices. There is never any pressure to sell if you just want an evaluation.
When it comes to coins, the value depends on the rarity and condition- not just the age. Some coins may be very old but common. Others may be newer but exist in limited quantities which raises their value. Our expert appraisers will explain to you the value of your items so you can make an informed decision on whether to sell them.
When you’re ready for an evaluation, Christopher’s is here to help. If you have a small collection (about the size of a shoebox or less) you can bring it in at any time without an appointment. For larger collections, we ask that you make an appointment so we can set aside a time when we will be able to provide you the best attention and service. You can also leave your larger collection with us for a short time if you don’t want to wait while it’s appraised. We will give you a receipt and call you as soon as we are done.
Our appraisal rates are $50 per hour, with a $25 minimum for full written appraisals. If we buy the collection the written appraisal fee is waived. Smaller collections not requiring a written appraisal, as well as verbal appraisals, are free of charge.
