Coin & Precious Metal Markets: What to Expect in 2018

Everyone at Christopher’s Fine Jewelry and Rare Coins sincerely hopes you had a joyous holiday season and wish you all the best in 2018.

Just when you think things couldn’t get crazier- they certainly did. From politics to markets, they all seem to defy predictions for us mere mortals.

The coin and precious metals markets seem to be somewhat in flux right now. They seem to be hanging in the balance of weak to steady and stable. Not that experience from past markets amounts to anything, but in my honest opinion I think the coin and precious metal markets will stay pretty solid from here on out.

When I look back to the early to mid-1980’s when we had a major upswing in these markets followed by an incredibly torrent downward trend that seemed bottomless, the markets appear very stable right now and I do not predict any panic selling. That is due to holders that are not financially strapped or leveraged, which was quite the opposite 3 decades ago.

One of my strongest recommendations for 2018 is to buy U.S. Gold coins in any condition, especially MS60 to MS65 grades. I made these same recommendations quite a while back and since then the premiums over melt have only decreased. Now is definitely the time to invest in these coins.

Christopher’s Rare Coins always has a great inventory of these coins that is sure to put a smile on your face in years to come.

Happy collecting and investing.
